Keluarga dan Perkembangan Kepribadian

Keluarga dimana Jason dan Vicky tumbuh mungkin adalah pengaruh besar pada perkembangan mereka. Apakah kelahiran mereka diterima ? Berapa umur orang tua mereka? Seberapa baik kepribadian dari hubungan orang tua dan anak? Apakah orang tuanya sehat? Apakah mereka kaya atau miskin? Berapa banyak orang yang tinggal dirumahnya? Dan pengaruh perjalanan ke arah lainnya juga. Anak-anak juga merupakan efek dari orang tua mereka dengan cara tak terhingga, mengubah suasana hati orang tua sehari-hari, prioritas dan rencana untuk amsa depan perkawinan itu sendiri

Kehidupan keluarga keduanya, Vicky dan Jason sangat berbeda dari abad yang lalu, dan kehidupan keluarga cenderung berubah terlebih di masa depan. Seorang anak yang tumbuh pada jaman ini cenderung hanya memiliki satu saudara kandung, seorang ibu yang bekerja di luar rumah, dan ayah yang lebih terlibat dalam kehidupan anak-anaknya dari pada ibunya sendiri, dan untuk menerima jumlah perawatan yang besar sehari-hari dari non-keluarga, yang berkwalitas paling baik adalah rumah pengasuh atau tempat penitipan anak daripada di sebuah pra-sekolah. Anak pada jaman sekarang memiliki kesempatan 40 persen menghabiskan bagian dari masa kecil mereka dengan hanya satu orangtua mungkin ibunya dan mungkin karena perceraian.

Perubahan-perubahan ini telah merevolusi pelajaran tentang sosialisasi bagaimana anak-anak mempelajari perilaku budaya mereka yang dianggap sesuai. Dulu, sebagian besar peneliti berfokus pada ibu-ibu dan anak-anak mereka, tetapi sekarang para peneliti mempelajari batas antara anak dan ayah mereka, saudara laki-laki dan saudara perempuan mereka, kakek dan nenek mereka, dan pengasuh anak lainnya.
